We tested the mobile client on the Paris ballroom floor wifi (which is famously oversubscribed during the Series) and the PokerStars client held connection through six-table sessions without dropping. The desktop client is more forgiving,we never saw a disconnect-protect timeout trigger across two weeks of evening sessions.

The hand history downloads as standard text, which means tracking software (PokerTracker 4, Hold'em Manager 3) works out of the box where their terms of service permit it. Check the PokerStars terms before you fire up the HUD,some rooms restrict third-party software.

Traffic & player pool

PokerStars peaks at around 200,000+ concurrent cash game players during prime EU evening hours. That puts it in the niche tier of the global poker market.

What that means in practice: the room runs reliably at lower stakes, but anyone shopping for $5/$10+ cash should look elsewhere.
